Black bear hunting in Western North Carolina takes dedication and perseverance due to how the hunts are structured and bear behavior. All day sits in a blind or stand is the outfitter's reccomendation since bear may visit your hunt area anytime of the day without a clear or definite pattern or schedule--they may show up at first light, last night, or any time in between. The best way to sucessfully harvest a black bear in North Carolina is to be there when they show up.
The average weight of a bear harvest for the 2021 season was 380 lbs.
